Atonement Part 1/13

This is Working title film Which also captures the British culture more focused on the higher class/middle class social groups.

Which is simmilar to ours.

However the opening Starts of with the panning of the dollhouse and then mosev on slowly to the typewrite whilst on showing shots of the charectos eyes at that point. This Also creates suspence and makes the audience question the chaarecter and makes them focus on what is happening.A wide range of Closs ups and Mid long shots are used in this opening making .

The close up of the girls eyes is used to frame and captue what it is that she is typing and concentrating on.

The Seat Filler Part 1 Opening with Mystery 1:00-2.00 mins

This Film Also used a Wide Range of close up during the first few minutes of the opening creating a composure and a sence of mystery making the audience questiont he views on the charecter and during this only Close ups of the chacters face ish shown.

Like wise inn our Film opening the Charecters face is rarely show and when it is . The angle of the chamelra is at a close up Creating suspence.

foundation Portfolio,Evaluatiion of finished film

1).In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

We have developed an opening of a film that does not give the audience any signs as pose to what is going to happen later on in the film. It creates a sense of suspense and suspiciousness of the character as during the film you hardly even see her face.
We have developed this idea into our film of not giving any clues as posed to what the movie will be about of sign posting any future events to make the character mysterious and unknown.
We used similar ideas and shots from Dexter who is portrayed to be mysterious and unknown during the breakfast morning routine opening as this creates a cliff-hanger as to speak for the audience making them question themselves about the character.
We used a wide range of Close ups and Jump cuts in our film which is also used quit frequently during the opening of the Dexter morning routine.
This allowed us to make the main focus on the Breakfast parts of the clips and particular objects and at some points the extreme close ups give the object a different view and make them appear to be something that it is not.
.
The use of close ups on the breakfast stress the importance of the event and the actual cooking of the breakfast, this could later have a signifcant relation to the rest of the film.

2. How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Our Media project mainly represents working class families .The young woman featured in our opening is making a typical English breakfast this portrays typical British practices and norms and values within its society. This film would appeal to all sorts of people from a variety of social group’s different genders and ages. The soundtrack that we have used in our opening gives a sort of everyday feels i.e. Cooking Breakfast and anticipating what lies ahead during your day. The soundtracks add emotion of what the character is feeling at that point.
The character seen in the opening is wearing a checked shirt and this creates and image of an independent working woman/mother.Her clothing (shirt) predominantly associates withbusiness and work.It Add Sopistication and class as show in th the image below

4. Who would be the audience for your media product?
The Film we have developed would be aiming to target working class/middle class people as it does not target to those who assosciate with upperclass morals and values. Although it is a British Centered Drama based on working class/middle class families, it could also apply to single parent families or young adults living by themselves.
We believe people of all ages ranging from teenagers to elderly .We Did not use a particular story line in our film and so does not solely apply to any particular audience.

5. What kind of media institution would distribute your media product and why?
Working title films would probably be the appropriate institution to distribute our media products and film. Due to it having typical British qualities, however working title films have low budgets and so therefore distribution tactics are not as successful as say for example Paramount etc.So, looking further into distribution companies we have decided that our genre of film which is a drama to use Paramount Pictures as our main distributers out and running into the cinemaHave a look on imdb and find out the companies that have produced and distributed films similar to yours. Research some low budget, independent British film companies that might be interested in distributing your film.

6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Looking back at the preliminary task, what do you think you have learnt from the progression from it to the full task?
So many things I think we have learnt and taken up on board. The preliminary was a very short capture of film and we didnt really think about our story line or what we said , we were just focusing on the accuracy of our angles and shots to make it as smooth to watch as possible. But on our main task, we were having so much difficluty in mostly everything, our story line we was thinking about too much which resulted in distracting us from focusing the main points such as : lighting, jump cuts, using the same side all the time when filming, and most of all,

Improvements Need To Be Made

To improve our work in order to acheive a better grade,We have to decided to use the Opening of Dexter Morning routine as a teplate for ours,ie Getting ready, shaving.cooking breakfast and leaving the house.
This opening consists of many extreme close ups and close ups.In the opening the charechter does not say a word and this gives it a mysterious feel and makes the audience suspiciouse about the charecter and makes them concentrte and focus on what is going on.
So in a way We are going to use this routine as a template for our project but make it our own in the same way using alot of close ups.

Continuity & Last Day of Shooting-20th April

So,there was a huge continuinity problem with our film oppening.
There Where some major issues which we noticed only whilst caturing and editing. CONTINUITY!
We Tried to Reshoot some parts that had the big flow problems but some things just cannot be undone.
So to rectify ourselves we have come up with a whole new idea for the film opening. And we Are going to be reshooting, caturing and editing it all over again from start to finish a whole new topic,And hopefully by noticing what we did wrong in the last one, we will be able to improve and produce some A* quality work.
We Have already started shooting and the work tht we have produced so far seems to be on the right track.
So hopefully this week we will be done with our editing and caturing.

First and Hopefully Last Day of Re-Shooting-20th April

So Today Will Be Out first day of Reeshoting our opeining using the new idea And have everything done and dusted Ready for editing.
And so We have decided to have it all shot at Lousie
's which is the best loccation for the group in that its closer to college and we can easily go back and forth from and to college during our lessons/filming time as the deadline for this peice is next week.
Overall the filming went good and with group effort we got the job done in the end.
Whilst filming to maintain the continunity and make editing easier, we rarely pressed pause which would have caused there to be a jump shot and it would not flow as smoothly.
Although we had To reshoot some parts over and over ensuring the composure, sound and lighting were relative to the scene that was being shot and making any alterations and adjustments.
